Beach Sweeps
Clean Ocean Action.
Clean Ocean Action's goal is to improve the water quality and to keep the beaces clean, the main site (beach) of Clean Ocean Action is the New Jersey/New York coast were they are having regular Beach Sweeps. Basically Clean Ocean Action is getting volenteers to do fun beach sweeps.
To achieve this 'Clean Ocean Action' would like to do Beach Sweeps, inviting schools, groups and individuals to participate in the 1998 beach and waterway cleanup's being held April 25th which has already happeed so they would like you to participate later on this year. This has been the 14th year of Cleann Ocean Action and they would like this to appear in every country. Last year, in New Jersey over 4100 volenteers collected nearly a quarter of a million items from the beach and waterways. The second Beach Sweep this year is on the 24th of October.
Beach and waterway cleanups gives us and excellent oppotunity to participate in an event that not only benifits the enviroment, but also benifits the community. By cleaning up the beaches, you and your group will gain a better appreciation for the enviroment. So by doing this hopefully you will think twice before litering. By entering these cleanup's Clean Ocean Action will start a report that is submitted to the Centre of Marine Conservation (CMC) in Washington DC and included in Clean Ocean Action Web Site. I think this idea is good and would work world wide.
